WinQuota solution overview
WinQuota was designed for regular and fully-automated maintenance of disk storage on per-user and per-directory basis in small, large or enterprise networks. WinQuota maintains your shared file storages in LAN or WAN, including rich multi-domain environment. WinQuota offers support of attached storages, Windows Clustering and other enterprise level features.
Using WinQuota is pretty simple. Once defined quota settings will provide automatic blocking of any operations that enlarge the limits. Using WinQuota nested quota rules can be applied. There is no need to specify the same quota rules for every subdirectory. It is enough to specify common rules for parent directory and add specific rules to subdirectories separately if needed.
WinQuota provides accurate hardware limits as well as usual soft limits; what is the difference in comparison to other solutions?
Many directory quota solutions are oriented on either personal or small business usage; for example, it can use directory rights to imitate quota management. As a result you'll get conflicts with your security policy being used at the same time with quota management. WinQuota uses other algorithms to track quota limits; it provides accurate byte-n-byte limitations for all file activities without any changes of other system and security settings.
